Shear Sharpening from A Professional Perspective, Don’t Screw it UP!

I certainly had no idea that there were so many things involved in shear sharpening. Of course I just thought that you have two blades and as they get used, they get dull. Turns out that there are a ton of factors that go into making sure that you sharpen your shears correctly.

First of all it was initially a shock for me to realize that a pair of professional shears can be over $800! That blew me away. It must be so nerve racking to know that they are getting dull, and you have to find somebody that is trustworthy enough to handle your investment! Sounds pretty scary to me.

Shear sharpening is something that, apparently, takes many years to learn how to do it the right way. Seems like this guy Dave really knows what he is talking about. I know one thing for sure. It is so important to know what questions to ask when you know it is time to have your beauty shears sharpened. You can’t trust that to just anyone!

Finding a good sharpener is like finding gold if you’re a stylist. I’ve trained many of them over the years and truly good sharpeners are hard to come by. If your readers ever need a reference for a sharpener in different areas of the country, they could visit my sharpening blog and send me an email. I may know someone they can trust with those $800 shears you mentioned. :)
