Having A Supportive Family To Quit Smoking Is A Good Thing

The support of friends and family can be extremely helpful in quitting smoking. You may have kept it secret from them all this while, in which case coming out is a significant step to kicking the habit. And if they have always been in on it, let them know you no longer want a part of it. If you know you are committed to stopping smoking, they will give you the support you need and hey – it just might work to help you stop smoking. You might startle yourself with how well it works.
Nicotine is a major constituent of tobacco smoke that is both poisonous and very highly addictive. So while it’s killing you, it’s holding on for dear life as well. When you fight to stop smoking, you are actually fighting against nicotine. It will do you well to know where to direct your anger and frustration when you start the long hard climb back to sobriety.
I have heard it a thousand times: ‘smokers are liable to die young,’ and I’m sure so have millions of other Americans, a good portion of which are helplessly bound to the deadly narcotic. It is not for a want of quitting options, I think, it is because they are addicted to the nicotine content. Now that is where they need help, breaking that addiction, which I am certain that they can if they knew to lock themselves up and throw away the key… or at least hand it over to someone who will not let them out until they are free from that bondage.
You will certainly get that strong desire to smoke shortly after you make that decision to stop smoking, and from time to time afterward. Whenever you are close to the narcotic or when you smell it in the atmosphere, you might feel the strong urge to go for it as well. As such, it is imperative that you keep away from it or you might find yourself indulging again.
